Ductus Deferens

Ductus Deferens has direct continuation of the tail of the epididymis. It has a thick muscle layer and ends in the prostatic urethra. The distal end enlarges to form the ampulla. The ampulla is joined by the duct of the seminal vesicle, and continues through the prostate as the ejaculatory duct. It is lined with pseudostratified columnar epithelium. It is very similar to that of the epididymis, which has basal cells and tall columnar cells with long microvilli (stereocilia) that extend into the lumen. It has three layers of smooth muscles, which are the middle layer circular, inner, and outer longitudinal.
