Seminal Vesicles

Seminal Vesicles are a pair of highly folded tubular glands. The upper extremity is blind ended and the lower extremity opens into the corresponding vas deferens. The mucosa is thrown into primary, secondary, and tertiary folds (increasing secretory surface. All the irregular chambers communicate with the lumen. The epithelium is pseudostratified columnar, with tall non-ciliated columnar cells and basal cells. Secretion is under testosterone control, producing viscous whitish fluid containing fructose, amino acids, flavins, ascorbate, and prostaglandins.
